Mortehoe Scarecrow Festival Committee has announced that there will be no scarecrow festival in 2016. Hopefully it will be back in future years!

Scarecrow Festival 2016
Dear Friends and Fellow Scarecrow Makers,
After much thought the Committee regret that it cannot go ahead with the event this year. As you may be aware, several members are coping with ongoing illnesses in their families and, sadly, unable to commit their energies to its organisation in an uncertain future. Our thanks go to all who have generously supported this event for many years, and as a result, helped to finance the upkeep of St Mary's and fund projects like updating the heating system. We hope that you have enjoyed playing your part each year, knowing that your contributions have been much appreciated. Memories of last minute panic resulting in some amazing effigies, four days of family fun. and the generosity of its supporters, will remain with us all in the future.
We are aware that the Scarecrow Festival has become an integral part of the Summer calendar and of its value to both the church and the whole community. Because of this, St Mary's PCC is exploring other events to compensate for its loss and attract visitors to the village. To ensure success, your support is vital and we hope that you will feel able to give to this as generously as you have done in the past, by offering practical help and/or attending them.
